These guidelines and presumptions didn’t apply to me just, but to every other girl. Most of us occur for a value spectrum: the straighter and thinner, the higher. The perfect daughter, the perfect woman on one end is the perfect partner. And we’re constantly assessing one another to determine where we fall on that range, whether we should or otherwise not. Even today we nevertheless battle the necessity to examine other fat women and wonder whether I’m smaller or bigger than them — better or worse, hotter or notter. That’s the purchase we’ve been taught to uphold.
